Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer both, but find that meeting in-person is better for most people. I see some adults for online therapy when it is difficult or almost impossible to attend in person due to their school or work schedule, disability, or location. That said, I rarely see children or teens online, except for the occasional one-off session.

  • I offer gender affirming care for children, teens, and adults. I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and of  Mind the Gap, a consortium of gender care providers in community partnership with the UCSF Child and Adolescent Gender Center (CAGC).

  • You can reach me by email catherine@catherinemetzger.com or phone (341) 895-5774 to set up a time to talk about what you are hoping to find in a therapist, or to set up an initial consultation. I try to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

  • My fee is $200 for a 50 minute session, payable at time of service. I sometimes see someone for a reduced fee on a sliding scale, but do not have one of these low-fee appointments available currently. In terms of insurance, I can provide you with a receipt called a “super bill” that you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Since I am not contracted with any insurance company, I do not submit paperwork to or bill any insurance companies, nor do I know whether your insurance provider would reimburse you for your visit in part or at all.
